Culture Matters.

As Steve Jobs and other successful business people have said: “Hire the person, teach the skills.” Adding to that, one of the first things I was taught when I got into recruiting in 2005 is this: Companies don’t always hire the most qualified person, they hire someone they want to work with.

While a company’s culture can be hard to define, I have one client that I refer as being collegial due to the number of Ph.D. medical writers.

I know of another pharma ad agency that has a reputation for being very aggressive and technology driven. And successful. Some agencies are big and bureaucratic, some are small and entrepreneurial. Some are siloed and some are unstructured.

But where culture really matters is knowing where you’d fit in.
